29 Jun Restoring an old top hat

Tim and Cass arrived with an old top hat  – It was falling apart and in need of some tender loving care.

The ribbon around the brim was rotting and falling off and the previous owner had attempted to glue it back on….spreading glue around the underside of the brim!
The wire around the brim had snapped and was poking out.  After steaming it clean, mending the splits around the outside of the brim and removing the messy glue marks,  I attached new wire, new ribbon and a new hat band.

They were very happy with the result.
